Separate entry, residence and work permission
Algeria requires the visa category to match work, family, study or visit. A salaried move needs the official work-visa evidence and the employer’s labour process; a business or tourist visa is not a bridge into employment.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.
| Plan | VisaAtlas route | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Work visa | Work Visa | The employer’s labour authorisation supports the application. |
| Family visa | Family Visa | Family entry is not employment permission. |
| Student visa | Student Visa | Admission and study status are purpose-limited. |
Complete the arrival record
Coordinate consular approval with the employer and then complete the residence-card and local registration steps within the applicable deadline. Retain Arabic or French translations and the accommodation certificate used in the file.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
Algiers, Oran and industrial or Saharan sites have different commutes, climate and employer support. Verify lease authority, utilities and site transport and do not accept an informal address that cannot support registration.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Ask the bank about residence evidence and permitted account operations before transferring funds. Keep official exchange, payroll and tax records and do not rely on informal currency channels.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Family members need their own visa and residence record; an adult needs separate authority before work. Confirm French or Arabic school pathways and evacuation cover for remote industrial assignments.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
Align work authorisation, contract and residence-card renewals and clear a site or employer change first. Official advice restricts travel near several borders and parts of the Sahara, so check the exact route.
Read current official travel advice for Algeria, the exact region and any overland route before travel. Confirm that insurance covers the location and planned work.
