Separate entry, residence and work permission
Burkina Faso’s online visa grants entry, not an open work, family or residence status. Any essential assignment requires separately confirmed labour and residence approval from the competent authority.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.
| Plan | VisaAtlas route | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Online entry visa | Online Entry Visa | Entry is not work or residence permission. |
| Work or residence authority check | Work or Residence Authority Check | Obtain written authority before deployment. |
| Family, study or long-stay check | Family, Study or Long-stay Authority Check | Do not infer rights from a visit visa. |
Complete the arrival record
Do not deploy because an eVisa was approved. An essential employer must organise secure airport transfer, local registration, communications and a viable independent exit plan.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
FCDO advises against all travel, so ordinary rental guidance is not appropriate. Any accommodation must sit inside an organisational security, utilities, medical and evacuation system.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Contract terms should cover secure salary access, tax, hardship, insurance and evacuation costs. Do not move dependants, household assets or irreversible deposits.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Family accompaniment requires a separate exceptional security assessment and documented status; visitor entry does not create adult work, school or healthcare rights.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
FCDO advice current on 12 September 2026 advises against all travel to Burkina Faso and says consular support is remote. Visa or employer approval cannot override insurer exclusions.
The official advice cites terrorist attack, kidnapping and political instability and warns not to rely on government evacuation. Deferral is the default unless an essential deployment has robust professional support.
