Separate entry, residence and work permission
Cabo Verde distinguishes short business or professional stays from residence visas for professional activity, investment, study and family reunification. EASE pre-registration or visa-free entry is not a settlement or employment route.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.
| Plan | VisaAtlas route | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Professional-activity residence visa | Residence Visa for Professional Activity | Use for qualifying long-term professional activity. |
| Investment residence visa | Residence Visa for Investment | Business registration and operating authority remain separate. |
| Family reunification | Residence Visa for Family Reunification | Dependants must verify work rights separately. |
Complete the arrival record
Confirm whether pre-registration, consular visa and post-arrival residence formalities all apply to the passport and purpose. Keep island, address and employer facts consistent across the application.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
Praia, Mindelo and resort islands have different jobs, schools, healthcare and flight links. Verify water storage, utilities, internet, wind exposure and inter-island transport before a long lease.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Clarify salary currency, transfer costs and tax registration before moving funds. Island supply costs and inter-island travel belong in the household budget rather than a generic national estimate.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Secure school and health access on the intended island, not merely somewhere in the country. Family reunification documents need civil records, and an adult dependant should confirm a separate work basis.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
Calendar the residence visa or permit and any professional or business licence separately. A move between islands does not change national immigration law but can change where practical services are accessed.
Read current official travel advice for Cabo Verde, the exact region and any overland route before travel. Confirm that insurance covers the location and planned work.
