Separate entry, residence and work permission
Republic of the Congo consular visas govern entry, while a move for work requires separate labour and residence formalities. A 91-day or business-purpose visa should not be marketed as permission to take employment.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.
| Plan | VisaAtlas route | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| 91-day short-stay visa | Short-stay 91-day Visa | Longer visitor validity is not residence or work approval. |
| Family or long-stay authority check | Family, Study or Long-stay Authority Check | Confirm the residence branch directly. |
| Work or residence authority check | Work or Residence Authority Check | Employer must evidence labour and resident-card steps. |
Complete the arrival record
Have the employer arrange the labour authorisation, registration and resident card and preserve each French-language receipt. Check sponsor, occupation and expiry rather than relying only on the visa sticker.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire and remote oil or forestry sites differ in transport, utilities, communications and medical evacuation. Confirm secure housing and project transport first.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Agree salary currency, tax handling, allowances and transfer channels and keep official receipts. Do not perform local consulting on visitor status.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Confirm dependant residence, school and medical access before the household moves. Adult employment requires its own approval.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
Renew labour and residence records separately and clear employer or site changes. Check current border and remote-region advice before travel.
Read current official travel advice for Congo, the exact region and any overland route before travel. Confirm that insurance covers the location and planned work.
