Moving to Curaçao: permission and practical setup
Curaçao has its own admission system within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Dutch or Schengen assumptions are unsafe: confirm whether a residence permit or declaration and a separate labour action apply to the person and activity.

Use the Curaçao-specific admission purpose
The Admission Office lists work, family, study and other permit purposes and directs applicants to a digital form or official PDF intake route. Local employment can also involve the Labour Centre. Visitor stay or a mainland Netherlands title must not be assumed to cover residence or work.
| Plan | Route | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Employment | Residence Permit - Work | Admission and labour requirements |
| Family | Residence Permit - Family | Relationship and sponsor evidence |
| Study or internship | Residence Permit - Study or Internship | Institution and activity evidence |
| Investor or retiree | Residence Permit - Investor, Retired Person or Pensioner | Qualifying purpose evidence |
Submit through the correct official channel
Prepare passport, police, civil, medical, employer, institution or support records for the selected purpose. Follow the portal or PDF scanning instructions and confirm apostille, legalisation and language rules before submission. Keep the status reference and original documents.
Collect the title and complete Kranshi registration
After a positive decision, follow the Admission Office appointment and collection instructions, then complete the population-register action at Kranshi where required. Keep the same legal name and address across the permit, lease, tax, health and bank records.
Connect tax, social insurance and health cover
Ask a local employer to document payroll and SVB registration. Determine tax registration from the actual work or business facts. Confirm whether the household enters the local basic health-insurance system or needs another compliant arrangement before cancelling interim cover.
Choose housing around school language and medical access
Inspect cooling, water, power, internet, flood exposure, inventory and commute. Ask the intended school about language stream, placement, immigration, vaccination and prior records; verify every dependant and a partner’s work position separately.
Resolve licence, Customs and pet import
Ask the licensing authority how the issuing licence is treated after residence before driving. Obtain Customs treatment before shipping a vehicle or household goods and veterinary permission before a pet travels. Track permit, registration and insurance renewals.
Your moving checklist
Tick off the tasks that apply to you. The timing is a planning order, not a substitute for the deadlines on your permission or an official instruction.
