Choose the residence category first
The RT-3 route is tied to qualifying employment, while pensioner, rentista and investor cases use their own income or investment evidence. A tourist admission, property purchase or company registration is not residence or work permission.
| Plan | Route | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Employment | Temporary Residence for Work (RT-3) | Employer and RT-3 status |
| Pension income | Residence by Investment - Pensionado (Retiree) | Qualifying pension evidence |
| Independent income | Residence by Investment - Rentista (Annuitant) | Qualifying rentista evidence |
| Investment | Residence by Investment - Investor | Approved investment route |
Prepare route-specific records
Use the live Migración service page for passport, police, medical, civil and employer records. Check authentication and Spanish translation rules.
Finish residence and identity in order
Preserve entry and application evidence, complete the in-country migration action and keep names and addresses consistent across every record.
Connect TSS, health and tax records
Ask the employer to verify social-security and health-plan onboarding. Confirm DGII registration from the actual activity rather than the visa label.
Verify housing and family services
Inspect the lease and storm resilience. Confirm school placement, health access and each dependant’s residence before committing long term.
Check driving, Customs and pets
Confirm licence rules before driving. Obtain Customs and animal-health instructions before sending goods, a vehicle or a pet.
Your moving checklist
Tick off the tasks that apply to you. The timing is a planning order, not a substitute for the deadlines on your permission or an official instruction.
