Separate entry, residence and work permission
Equatorial Guinea’s eVisa covers entry, not a complete work-and-residence process. The employer must obtain and document labour and residence approvals before the worker starts; tourist or business entry is not enough.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.
| Plan | VisaAtlas route | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Tourist eVisa | Tourist eVisa | Tourism entry does not authorise work. |
| Business or official visit check | Business or Official Visit Check | A visit is not a work permit. |
| Work or residence authority check | Work or Residence Authority Check | Get sponsor confirmation before relocation. |
Complete the arrival record
Confirm whether the approved port is Malabo or Bata and complete police, work and residence steps with the sponsor. Keep Spanish-language employer and address records consistent.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
Bioko and mainland Rio Muni are not interchangeable: flights, healthcare, schools and employer sites differ. Verify island or mainland housing, power, water, transport and evacuation.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Document payroll currency, tax, banking and foreign transfers and retain all receipts. Delay household shipment until the actual work site and status are approved.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Dependants require separate immigration, school and medical plans and adult work authority. Confirm inter-island travel and evacuation coverage.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
Track eVisa history, work approval and residence separately and clear site or employer changes. Review current official advice before overland or maritime travel.
Read current official travel advice for Equatorial Guinea, the exact region and any overland route before travel. Confirm that insurance covers the location and planned work.
