Run the overseas destination through France-Visas
Non-EU applicants should select French Guiana, nationality, purpose and duration in the official wizard. Employment or talent and private-family routes use different evidence. EU status and mainland documents still need a destination-specific travel and residence check because French Guiana is outside Schengen.

Prepare the visa and prefecture file as one record
Keep passport, visa receipt, civil-status translations, employment or family evidence and proof of accommodation. The Guyane prefecture publishes local first-application channels and asks for identity, status and recent address evidence; use its current instructions for Cayenne or Saint-Laurent rather than a mainland appointment assumption.
Choose Cayenne, Kourou or the west using service access
Complete the visa validation or residence action required by the document and local prefecture. Interior and river communities can have limited road and medical access. Inspect flood, humidity, mould, mosquito protection, power, water, internet and commute before a long lease.
Start health, tax and banking with address evidence
Use Assurance Maladie to identify the local caisse and required enrolment evidence; keep interim cover until rights are active. Contact the local tax service based on work and residence facts. Banks may require French identity, address, tax and income documents.
Coordinate school, childcare and tropical healthcare
School enrolment begins with the municipality and school using the current education document list. Confirm vaccination and prior records, language support and transport. Register with healthcare, identify a pharmacy and clinician, and plan specialist travel from remote communes.
Check licence exchange and overseas freight rules
Use the French licence service for EU or non-EU treatment rather than assuming automatic exchange. Obtain destination-specific Customs and animal-health instructions before sending a vehicle, household goods or pet; mainland France and French Guiana can have different customs treatment.
