Moving to Guinea-Bissau: permission, arrival and practical setup
Guinea-Bissau’s Foreign Ministry lists visa issuance and declarations for residence among its consular acts, but it does not publish an open foreign-employment or remote-work right. Obtain written labour and residence instructions from the employer and competent authority before relocating.

Separate entry, residence and work permission
Guinea-Bissau’s Foreign Ministry lists visa issuance and declarations for residence among its consular acts, but it does not publish an open foreign-employment or remote-work right. Obtain written labour and residence instructions from the employer and competent authority before relocating.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.

Complete the arrival record
Obtain the entry visa through a currently confirmed official channel and complete residence and labour formalities locally. A long-stay or multiple-entry visa should not be treated as proof that the job, business or family activity is authorised.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
In Bissau, inspect drainage, electricity, water, internet, road access and security. Island or regional work needs boat, medical and communications contingencies.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Keep banking, salary, tax and emergency cash arrangements in writing and retain official transfers. Delay household shipment until residence and work permissions are confirmed.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Each dependant needs documented entry and longer stay plus school and health planning. Adult work requires separate authority.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
Confirm extension or residence requirements before visa expiry and avoid border runs as a settlement plan. Check political, road and public-health advice before travel.
