Moving to Kyrgyzstan: a practical relocation guide

The public e-Visa service does not set out the full work and residence process. A tourist or business e-visa is not ordinary work permission; verify the employer, work authorisation, registration and residence chain with the official population-registration authority.

The official e-Visa portal covers entry visas and passport transfer or review services. It does not establish a general right to take local employment or settle.

Confirm address registration immediately

Ask the hotel, landlord or sponsor whether the nationality and stay length require registration and obtain the official confirmation.

Use an actual lease and repeat registration after a move; do not rely on an informal host.

Verify work before the first day

Obtain the employer-side foreign-labour approval and the personal immigration permission. EAEU nationality can alter the labour branch but not the need for lawful stay and registration.

Confirm before changing employers or starting self-employment.

Establish tax and healthcare records

Obtain the taxpayer identifier and ask payroll about social contributions. Keep a day count and foreign-income records.

Confirm public entitlement or employer insurance and maintain private and evacuation cover until active.

Set up dependants, school and banking

Each family member needs valid stay and registration. Bring translated civil and school records and ask the local school about placement.

Banks require identity, registration, tax residence and source-of-funds evidence; an account does not legalise work.

Keep passport, e-visa and residence records aligned

Use the official e-Visa transfer service after a passport replacement where applicable, and verify residence renewal separately.

Check foreign-licence recognition and regional border advice before driving.
