Moving to Venezuela: permission and practical setup

A labour visa depends on prior Venezuelan immigration authorisation obtained through the employer-side process. Entry, residence and work must match, while currency, banking, healthcare and service continuity need conservative contingency planning.

Do not travel for work before authorisation

The Venezuelan consular labour-visa guidance says the employer requests prior SAIME authorisation before the visa filing. Investor, family and rentista categories have different evidence and do not automatically grant the same work rights. Visitor or business entry is not a substitute.

Build an authenticated Spanish-language file

Use the responsible consulate and SAIME instructions for passport, authorisation, police, medical, employer, financial and civil evidence. Confirm apostille or legalisation and sworn translation. Keep approval, entry and registration documents in more than one secure form.

Make address and service resilience part of housing

Follow SAIME instructions for the resident identity and address record. Before paying, verify landlord authority, security, water storage, generator or charging options, internet and access to work and medical care. Avoid assumptions based on advertised service levels.

Plan payroll, tax and payments before arrival

Ask the employer to document IVSS and tax onboarding and the lawful payroll currency and payment channel. Immigration status does not decide tax residence. Confirm that home and local banks can process intended transfers and maintain compliant contingencies for interruptions.

Verify healthcare, medicines and school capacity

Confirm public, employer and private care for each person, medicine availability and emergency transport from the chosen district. Keep interim and evacuation cover where available. Ask the intended school for immigration, placement, vaccination and academic-record requirements.

Confirm licences, imports and pet clearance in writing

Ask INTT how the foreign licence is treated before driving and verify insurance. Obtain SENIAT Customs classification for goods or a vehicle and animal-health approval before a pet travels; do not ship until the route is workable.
