Separate entry, residence and work permission
Chad’s eVisa portal provides entry authorisation, not an open work or settlement permission. An employer must document the labour and residence route separately before an assignment or household move.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.
| Plan | VisaAtlas route | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Entry eVisa | Entry eVisa | Entry does not authorise employment or residence. |
| eVisa extension | eVisa Extension Direction | Extension does not change the permitted activity. |
| Visa routes hub | /visas/chad | Get the employer’s written work and residence process. |
Complete the arrival record
Confirm the authorised entry point and sponsor, then complete any police, labour and residence steps under secure transport. Keep the eVisa and every in-country receipt.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
Housing must be selected through the employer’s location-specific security, utilities, communications and medical-evacuation plan. Border and remote postings require a different go/no-go decision from N’Djamena.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Document payroll, tax, allowances, secure banking and emergency funds before deployment. Do not use repeated eVisa extensions to conceal a long-term working arrangement.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Dependants need separate permissions and a credible school, health and evacuation plan. Adult work authority must be obtained independently.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
FCDO advice current on 12 September 2026 advises against all travel to northern provinces, the Lake Chad region, western Kanem and within 30km of other borders. Recheck the map before every journey.
A Chad visa is not a safety clearance. Confirm insurer validity, employer tracking, communications, shelter and an independent exit plan before accepting any assignment.
