Moving to Gabon: permission, arrival and practical setup

Separate entry, residence and work permission
Gabon’s DGDI eVisa categories cover visits such as tourism, business events, family and professional missions. A mission or multiple-entry eVisa is not a long-term work and residence solution; the employer must identify the labour and resident-card process.
A visa waiver, visitor visa or business-visitor permission is not an open right to take employment or provide local services. Remote work also needs an immigration, labour and tax analysis unless the authority publishes a route that expressly covers it.

Complete the arrival record
Use the airport and collection process specified by DGDI and keep the eVisa authorisation. For a longer assignment, complete work and residence formalities before the visit status expires.
Inspect names, passport number, sponsor or purpose, permitted activity and expiry on every issued record. Keep the approval, receipt and a copy of the entry stamp outside the passport.
Make housing support the move
Libreville housing should be checked for commute, drainage, power, water and internet; extractive-industry sites require employer transport, secure communications and evacuation plans.
Verify landlord authority, lease language, deposit, inventory, utilities, internet and early-exit terms. Keep the real address and payment trail for immigration, banking and employer files.
Set up banking, payroll and tax evidence
Document payroll currency, allowances, tax handling and transfers. Do not assume a foreign employer removes Gabonese work or tax exposure for services performed in Gabon.
Ask the bank and tax authority for their live identity, permit, address, tax-number and source-of-funds requirements. Immigration status alone does not determine tax residence: retain travel days, payslips, foreign income and business invoices.
Plan each family member and essential service
Arrange each family member’s entry and longer status separately and confirm school and health capacity. A family-visit eVisa does not authorise an adult dependant to work.
A dependant, student or family residence document should not be treated as an adult work permit without confirmation. Carry legalised civil records, prescriptions, vaccination records and prior-school reports.
Control renewal, changes and current risk
Use an extension only for the same lawful visit purpose and obtain residence and work approval for continued assignment. Check current advice for demonstrations and remote road travel.
