Student Permit

Overview

This is Belize's student permit, required for foreign nationals coming to study, issued by the Immigration and Nationality Department. You must obtain it before commencing a school year or semester. At primary and secondary level it is generally issued for a school year, and at tertiary level for a semester. You evidence acceptance from your institution and that you (or a sponsor) can fund your studies. A student permit is for study, not settlement, and it does not by itself lead to permanent residence.    Gather your institution letter, the letter of financial support, your passport and the sponsor documents if you are sponsored.

   Apply for the student permit to the Immigration and Nationality Department before your school year or semester begins.

   After approval

   Receive the student permit sticker in your passport and renew it for each new school year or semester while enrolled.
