Temporary Residence - Independent Means (Renta Propia)

Overview

This is the own-income (renta propia) category of temporary residence under Law 6984/2022, for foreign nationals who can show stable, recurring income of their own - for example from investments, rentals or other lawful passive sources abroad - rather than a Paraguayan job. It is granted as temporary residence for up to two years and renewable, and after the temporary-residence period you change category to permanent residence. It is administered by the Direccion Nacional de Migraciones.

Application pathway

1. 01

   Check the route fit

   Confirm your own income is stable, recurring and lawful, and meets the category requirements, using the official Migraciones page.

2. 02

   Build the evidence pack

   Gather your financial statements, source-of-income records, apostilled criminal-record and civil-status documents, and your passport.

3. 03

   Submit through the official channel

   File the temporary-residence own-income application with the Direccion Nacional de Migraciones following the official requirements.

4. 04

   After approval

   Obtain your Paraguayan ID, and after the temporary-residence period change category to permanent residence before your card expires.
