Overview
Egypt grants residence permits to foreign nationals who own qualifying real estate in the country, with longer renewable periods tied to higher property values. The permit lets the owner reside in Egypt while the property is held and the permit is renewed, but it confers no right to work by itself and is not a route to permanent residence - Egypt has no permanent-residence status. This real-estate residence route is distinct from, and far below the thresholds of, the separate citizenship-by-investment programme. The residence permit is administered by the Ministry of Interior.

Frequently asked questions
Does buying property in Egypt give me permanent residence?+
No. Property ownership can give you a renewable residence permit whose length scales with the property value, but Egypt has no permanent-residence status, so the permit is never permanent. The only permanent status is citizenship through the separate, higher-threshold naturalisation route. Confirm current thresholds on the official Ministry of Interior residence portal.
Can I work on a real-estate residence permit?+
The real-estate residence permit lets you reside while you hold the qualifying property, but it does not by itself authorise employment - working requires a separate work permit. Confirm the current rules on the official Ministry of Interior portal.
