Overview

Holy See and Vatican City State access does not operate like a normal destination visa system. Ordinary travel to Rome, Italy and the Schengen area must be checked separately with the competent Italian or Schengen authority; these entries cover only the Vatican City State access, residence and citizenship framework that is published by the Governorate. The official access law distinguishes public territory where free access is permitted from restricted Vatican City State territory where non-citizens and non-residents need a Governorate permit. This route is therefore a visitor-access note for public areas, not permission to live, work, study or enter Italy or the Schengen area.

ℹ️ Who can apply?
