Stay Extension

Overview

INM defines a prorroga de estadia as authorisation to extend the time granted to a non-resident foreigner on entry. The public page says non-residents can request an extension until completing 120 days in Honduras or the CA-4 region of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. People who have filed a Special Permanence Permit or Residence request must also extend while waiting for the resolution and registration. The process is office-based: attend an INM internal-control office, present the extension request and valid passport, pay the TGR receipt equivalent to USD 20 for each month extended, and receive the extension printed in the passport.

2. 02

   Build the evidence pack

   Prepare the passport, extension request and payment route before expiry.

3. 03

   Submit through the official channel

   Attend an INM internal-control office and pay the applicable TGR receipt.

4. 04

   After approval

   Confirm the extension has been printed in the passport and leave or change category before the new date.
