Property-Owner Residency (long-term, up to ~10 years)

Overview

The 2025 reform introduced a longer residency tier of up to around 10 years for foreign property owners (and, in some cases, their children). It is reviewed case by case, and the regulations are reported not to fix a published minimum property value - so any threshold you read elsewhere is indicative. This is long-term renewable residence rather than permanent residence: Kuwait grants no permanent residence or settlement to expatriates, and the residency stays conditional and fixed-term. It is administered through the Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Residency Affairs. Always confirm the current rules and any value conditions on the official Ministry of Interior page rather than third-party sources.

Application pathway

   Check the route fit

   Confirm you own qualifying real estate in Kuwait and understand the residency is renewable, not permanent.

2. 02

   Build the evidence pack

   Gather your title deed or ownership proof, passport, supporting documents and health insurance.

3. 03

   Submit through the official channel

   Apply for the long-term property-owner residency through the Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Residency Affairs.

4. 04

   After approval

   Receive the long-term residency, maintain the qualifying ownership and health insurance, and renew before expiry as required.
