Overview

Malawi publishes visa, permit and citizenship guidance through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services, with online filing through the official eVisa and e-Permit portals. The public pages give the route framework and some fees, but permit checklists and current filing mechanics can sit inside the live portals or application forms, so applicants should confirm the latest document list and fee before submitting. The official eVisa portal says the Malawi eVisa is an official document permitting entry into Malawi. The portal instructs new users to create an account, complete the online form using passport-page data, travel details, photograph and related documents, pay the visa and convenience fee online, then download and print the eVisa after approval. Its 24 February 2026 public notice says Category Two nationals are eligible for visa on arrival, but still strongly encourages pre-departure eVisa filing for smoother travel; Category One nationals must obtain a visa or prior authorisation before departure.

ℹ️ Who can apply?

You do not need a job offer or employer to apply for the Malawi eVisa. This route does not lead to permanent residence. Open to qualifying applicants from all countries.
