Digital Nomad (Nomada Digital)

Overview

This is Peru's digital nomad category (Nomada Digital), created when Legislative Decree 1582 amended the migration law in 2023. It is intended for foreign nationals who work remotely - through telework or digital means - for an employer based outside Peru, with the employment relationship and income arising abroad. The idea is a stay of up to 365 days, with the possibility of extension, while you live in Peru and work for your foreign employer. Important honesty note: although the category exists in law, it is not yet implementable - at the time of review the requirements, fees and procedure had not been published, so you cannot actually apply for it yet. Treat it as a route to watch and confirm availability on the official Migraciones page before relying on it.

   Check the route fit

   Confirm on the official Migraciones page whether the digital nomad category has become available, since it was enacted but not yet implementable at the time of review.

2. 02

   Build the evidence pack

   Once requirements are published, gather proof of remote work for a foreign employer and foreign-source income, plus your passport.

3. 03

   Submit through the official channel

   When the procedure exists, apply through the Migraciones agencia digital following the published requirements.

4. 04

   After approval

   If granted, keep your foreign-source work and income current; this is a remote-work route rather than a settlement track.
