Turkey Family Residence Permit

Overview

The family residence permit is granted to the foreign spouse, minor or dependent children, and dependent family members of a Turkish citizen or of a foreigner holding a valid residence permit. It is issued for a maximum of two years at a time and cannot exceed the sponsor permit duration. The permit entitles the holder to primary and secondary education until age 18 without a separate student residence permit. Holders may later convert to a short-term residence permit, and time held counts toward long-term residence.

Application pathway

1. 01

   Confirm sponsor status

   Verify the sponsor is a Turkish citizen or valid residence-permit holder and the relationship qualifies.

2. 02

   Apply via e-ikamet

   Lodge the family residence permit application online with relationship and sponsor documents.

3. 03

   Attend appointment

   Submit the passport, marriage or birth records, and any required health insurance.

4. 04

   Receive permit and renew

   On approval the permit is issued for up to two years within the sponsor permit period; renew before expiry.
