Turkey Student Residence Permit

Overview

The student residence permit is issued to foreigners pursuing primary, secondary, or higher education at an institution in Türkiye. It is tied to the period of study and does not confer family residence rights on the student. Students may request general health insurance within three months of admission; if not requested in time, private health insurance is required. Applications are lodged through the e-ikamet system. The permit is primarily for study and does not by itself lead to settlement.

   Secure admission

   Obtain enrolment at a recognised Turkish primary, secondary, or higher-education institution.

   Apply via e-ikamet

   Lodge the student residence permit application online with proof of enrolment.

3. 03

   Arrange health insurance

   Request general health insurance within three months of admission, or take out private cover.

4. 04

   Receive permit and renew

   On approval the permit is issued for the study period; renew while enrolment continues.
