Overview

Burundi publishes visa guidance and online filing through the official Commissariat General des Migrations portal. The public pages are mainly in French and combine guidance, online forms and modal notes, so applicants should re-check the live CGM form category, document list, fee and appointment instructions immediately before filing. The CGM visa information page says foreigners can become permanent residents in Burundi by applying for and obtaining a permanent visa, allowing them to remain in Burundi for an indefinite period. The reviewed permanent-resident modal says it may be granted where a foreigner has resided at least 10 years without interruption and proved investments, has resided at least six months, has made investments with important economic contribution and durable employment for nationals, or qualifies through listed Burundi marriage/property circumstances. It also states conversion treatment for holders of the old indefinite visa with a USD 1,200 payment.
