Overview
The ES is the student sub-class of Cambodia's E-class ordinary visa. It is for people attending a school or university in Cambodia, and you can keep extending it as long as you provide a letter from a registered Cambodian school and show you can support yourself. You enter on the E-class visa and extend into the ES sub-class for the length of your studies. Honesty box - please read: like the other E-class sub-classes, the ES does not lead to permanent residence, and it is for study rather than employment. EG Job-Seeking Visa (E-class job-seeking sub-class)
For you if you are coming to Cambodia to look for work or get set up before a job starts: the EG is the E-class general sub-class often used while you are job-seeking - and it does not, on its own, let you work.
EB Business Visa (E-class ordinary visa, business/employment)
For you if you are coming to Cambodia to work or do business: the EB is the most common long-stay visa, an extension of the E-class ordinary visa - but please read the honesty note, because working also needs a separate Work Permit.
EP Employment Visa (E-class qualified-worker sub-class)
For you if you are taking up employment in Cambodia: the EP is an E-class extension oriented towards qualified workers and employees - and, like the EB, it still needs a separate Work Permit before you can legally work.
Frequently asked questions
How long can I stay on an ES student visa?+
You can keep extending the ES sub-class for as long as you remain enrolled at a registered Cambodian school and can support yourself, providing a letter from the school each time. It is tied to your studies rather than a fixed limit. Because it does not lead to permanent residence, plan any longer-term move separately and confirm the current rules on the official immigration page.
Can I work part-time on a student visa in Cambodia?+
The ES sub-class is built for study, not employment, so it does not authorise work on its own. If you wanted to take a job you would generally need a different sub-class and a separate Work Permit. Check what, if anything, is permitted alongside study on the official page before you rely on it.
