Study Residency

Overview

This is Jordan's study residency - the residence permit for an international student enrolled at a recognised institution in Jordan. It is administered by the Ministry of Interior through the Public Security Directorate, which lists it as "Study Residency". You apply on the basis of your enrolment and show you can support yourself while studying. Residence permits are generally valid for a year and renewed annually as your studies continue. Good to know: since October 2025, foreigners must register their residence with the Public Security Directorate within the deadline after arrival, so attend to that promptly. This is a study route and is not by itself a route to settlement.

   Check the route fit

   Confirm your institution is recognised and you have enrolment documents, using the official Ministry of Interior page.

2. 02

   Build the evidence pack

   Gather your enrolment documents, proof of funds, valid passport and required medical and supporting documents.

3. 03

   Submit through the official channel

   Apply for the study residency through the Ministry of Interior service as instructed.

4. 04

   After approval

   Register your residence with the Public Security Directorate after arriving, study, and renew the permit annually as your programme continues.
