Overview

The Immigration Act says Cabinet may grant permanent residence status at its discretion, that Cabinet must publish residence criteria, and that grant is only considered where the applicant has resided continuously on Niue on a temporary permit for not less than 10 years. The Act also says an application may only be made by a person in Niue holding a valid temporary permit and may include a spouse and dependent children in the listed circumstances.
