Spouse Permit

Overview

A Spouse Permit is issued to the spouse of a Zambian citizen, an established resident holding a Certificate of Status as an Established Resident, or a Residence Permit holder. The Department lists evidence including an applicant covering letter, consent from the spouse, spouse status evidence, certified marriage certificate, certified passport copy, photo, proof of sustenance and fee. Holding a Spouse Permit for at least 5 years is listed as a Residence Permit pathway.

   Check the route fit

   Confirm the supporting spouse is a Zambian citizen, established resident or Residence Permit holder.

2. 02

   Build the evidence pack

   Prepare spouse consent, spouse status and certified marriage evidence.

3. 03

   Submit through the official channel

   Submit the Spouse Permit application through the permit channel.

4. 04

   After approval

   Track renewals and residence eligibility if the applicant later relies on 5 years of Spouse Permit history.
