You must show an offer of place, evidence of tuition payment, and living-cost funds: NZD 20,000 per year for tertiary and English-language study (NZD 1,667 per month for shorter courses) or NZD 17,000 per year for school students in Years 1 to 13. Eligible students can work up to 25 hours a week during study - raised from 20 hours on 3 November 2025 - and full-time during scheduled holidays if the course meets the credit requirements. The visa costs from NZD 850 and INZ currently processes 80% of applications within 9.5 weeks. All applications must be submitted online, and you must hold travel and health insurance for the length of your study (PhD students are exempt from the insurance requirement).
