Detailed comparison

Grenada is the only Caribbean citizenship-by-investment country whose citizens can apply for the United States E-2 treaty investor visa, under a long-standing treaty between Grenada and the United States.

The E-2 is a non-immigrant visa: it requires you to invest a substantial amount in a real, active US business that you direct, and the funds must be genuinely at risk.

The E-2 can be renewed for as long as the business qualifies, but it does not by itself grant a US green card or US citizenship.

This is a two-step path - first obtain Grenadian citizenship through its Investment Migration Agency, then apply for the E-2 to the US Department of State - and each step has its own requirements and costs.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Grenada passport give me US residency?+−

No. Grenadian citizenship lets you apply for the US E-2 treaty investor visa, but the E-2 is a temporary, renewable non-immigrant visa tied to an active US business - it is not US permanent residence or citizenship. Confirm current rules with the US Department of State.

How much do I need to invest for the E-2?+−

US rules require a "substantial" investment in a bona fide, active US enterprise, with the funds genuinely at risk; there is no single fixed figure, and the amount must be proportionate to the business. Check the official US Department of State guidance and take professional advice.
