Rule changes note —Shared Caribbean rule: the five Eastern Caribbean citizenship-by-investment programmes (St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, and Saint Lucia) are bound by the March 2024 CARICOM Memorandum of Agreement. A minimum price of US$200,000 applies across all qualifying investment options (in force since 1 July 2024), and discounting below that floor is not allowed. The five states have agreed and enacted the Eastern Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Regulatory Authority (ECCIRA) - the permanent regional regulator, headquartered in Grenada and standing up in 2026. A region-wide 30-day physical-presence requirement (within the first five years) has been proposed under ECCIRA, but its start date has slipped to around mid-2026, so current presence rules still differ by country. Programmes, prices, and visa-free travel can change - always confirm the current options and amounts on the official Citizenship by Investment Unit page before you apply.

Overview

The National Transformation Fund (NTF) is the contribution option of the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Programme, administered by the Investment Migration Agency (IMA). You make a single non-refundable payment to a government fund that finances projects across tourism, agriculture, alternative energy and other sectors, and in return you and qualifying family members can be granted citizenship after due-diligence checks. Amounts and family bands are set by the government and change. Good to know: Grenada has a particular feature for US-bound investors - see the E-2 FAQ. Confirm current figures on the official IMA page before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

Is it true Grenadian citizens can apply for the US E-2 visa?+−

Yes - Grenada is the only Eastern Caribbean citizenship-by-investment state that holds a treaty with the United States allowing its citizens to apply for the US E-2 treaty investor visa. But be clear about what E-2 is: it is a NON-IMMIGRANT US visa that requires an active US business and a substantial, at-risk investment, and it does NOT itself grant US permanent residence (a green card) or US citizenship. Eligibility, conditions and the treaty list are decided by the US authorities and can change - confirm with the US Department of State and a qualified US adviser, and confirm the citizenship side on the official IMA page.

Do I have to live in Grenada to keep this citizenship?+−

Grenada has not historically required physical presence for citizenship granted through the National Transformation Fund, and dual citizenship is allowed. Rules can change, so confirm the current position on the official IMA page before you rely on it.

Do I have to buy property to get Grenadian citizenship by investment?+−

No. The National Transformation Fund is Grenada's donation route, where you make a one-time, non-refundable contribution to a government fund rather than buying property. A separate real-estate option exists for those who prefer to own an asset, but a property purchase is not required if you use the fund route. Confirm current options on the official IMA page.

Is the Grenada citizenship-by-investment contribution refundable if my application is refused?+−

No. The National Transformation Fund contribution is a non-refundable payment, and assuming it is refundable is listed as a common mistake. In practice you make the contribution after your application is approved. Confirm current amounts and conditions on the official IMA page before you apply.

Can I include my spouse and children in a Grenada citizenship-by-investment application?+−

Yes. You apply as the main applicant aged 18 or over, with eligible dependants added under the rules in force, and the required contribution is set by the size of your family. You would need valid passports and birth certificates for everyone on the application, plus police clearance for adult applicants. Confirm who counts as an eligible dependant and the current amount for your family size on the official IMA page.
