Rule changes note —The Gambia Immigration Department publishes public guidance for visas, entry requirements, residential permits, expatriate quota and business establishment. The reviewed public source set is strong for route fit, permit type, evidence and headline fees, but it does not expose a single online filing portal. Applicants and employers should confirm the current form, fee and filing desk with GID, the Ministry of Interior or the relevant Gambian mission before payment or travel.

Overview

GID says it is an offence for a non-citizen to engage in gainful employment in The Gambia without securing a residence and work permit from the Department of Immigration. Residential Permit B is for people who intend, after admission, to live, reside and work in The Gambia. GID says it is issued on application and approval to businesspersons, expatriates, unskilled workers and other professionals who get paid for livelihood. The evidence list specifically names a GRA payroll tax receipt for Residential Permit B, and the business-establishment guidance ties employment permission to the employer expatriate quota where relevant.
