Rule changes note —The Gambia Immigration Department publishes public guidance for visas, entry requirements, residential permits, expatriate quota and business establishment. The reviewed public source set is strong for route fit, permit type, evidence and headline fees, but it does not expose a single online filing portal. Applicants and employers should confirm the current form, fee and filing desk with GID, the Ministry of Interior or the relevant Gambian mission before payment or travel.

Overview

GID says foreign capital and enterprises are welcomed into business and industrial activity not adequately served by Gambians, while the Government reserves the right to refuse admission of entrepreneurs whose trade, business or financing is inimical to The Gambia interests. The business-establishment page classifies sectors into reserved or equity-limited categories: some informal-sector businesses are reserved for Gambians with concessions to ECOWAS citizens, some foreign equity is capped at 30%, and other sectors require at least 30% or 10% Gambian equity. GIEPA is the national investment-promotion agency and acts as an investor first point of contact, giving procedure information and helping investors form relevant networks. The immigration status still runs through GID residence, work and quota rules where the investor or staff will live or work in The Gambia.

ℹ️ Who can apply?

You do not need a job offer or employer to apply for the Business Establishment / Investor Residence. This route does not lead to permanent residence. Open to qualifying applicants from all countries.
