Overview
Romania's digital nomad visa is a long-stay (type D) visa for non-EU remote workers who are employed by, or run, a company registered outside Romania. You must show income comfortably above a multiple of Romania's average gross monthly salary, evidenced over the months before you apply. After arriving on the visa you can apply to IGI for a matching residence permit. It is designed for people serving foreign clients or employers, not the Romanian labour market, and it is not built as a settlement route. Romania joined Schengen fully in January 2025.
