Overview
Permanent residence is Serbia's settlement status. Following the February 2024 Law on Foreigners amendments, it can be applied for after three years of continuous temporary residence, down from five, on the basis of approved temporary residence or the single permit. It confers secure, longer-term residence and can be a step toward citizenship, which the reform shortened to around six years.
