Frequently asked questions

Can Dependant's Pass holders work in Singapore?+−

Not automatically. DP holders who wish to work need a Letter of Consent (LOC), which requires an employer to apply on their behalf through MOM. The LOC is tied to that specific employer. There is no independent right to work on a DP.

Does the SGD 6,000 minimum apply to all work passes?+−

Yes. Whether the sponsor holds an EP, S Pass, EntrePass, or PEP, the minimum salary for sponsoring a Dependant's Pass is SGD 6,000 per month. For Long-Term Visit Pass (for parents), the minimum is SGD 12,000.

Can I bring my unmarried partner to Singapore on a Dependant's Pass?+−

No. Singapore does not recognise common-law or de facto partnerships for Dependant's Pass purposes — only a legally married spouse and unmarried children under 21 qualify. Confirm the current rules with MOM before relying on this.

What happens to my family's Dependant's Pass if I change or lose my job?+−

A Dependant's Pass is tied to the sponsor's work-pass validity, so the family's passes depend on the sponsor maintaining a valid EP, S Pass, EntrePass, or PEP. Check MOM for how a change in your work pass affects dependants.
