Overview
Slovenia introduced its temporary residence permit for digital nomads on 21 November 2025. It is for non-EU/EEA nationals who work remotely, using communication technology, for an employer or under a contract for an entity based outside Slovenia, or as a self-employed person abroad. You must show monthly means of at least twice Slovenia's average net salary, indexed, so we do not quote a figure here. Important: the permit is issued for up to one year and cannot be extended - you must wait six months after it expires before reapplying - and it does not lead to permanent residence. A nice plus is that your family can join you immediately. As Slovenia is in the EU and Schengen, you also get Schengen travel during your stay.
