Overview
Foreign students admitted to an Egyptian educational institution obtain a student residence permit from the Ministry of Interior, allowing them to live in Egypt for the duration of their studies. It is tied to enrolment and renewed alongside the course, and it does not by itself authorise employment. Like every Egyptian residence permit, it is renewable but never permanent, because Egypt offers no permanent-residence status; students who wish to stay long term must move onto another residence basis such as employment, or pursue naturalisation under its own separate rules.

Can I work while studying in Egypt?+
A student residence permit is for study and does not by itself authorise employment; working would require a separate work permit. Confirm the current rules on the official Ministry of Interior portal.
