Rule changes note —Honduras publishes a useful public source packet through the Instituto Nacional de Migracion: tourist and consulted visa guidance, stay-extension rules, residence categories and permit checklists. Several permit routes use one-page PDF checklists, and many filings require an apoderado legal, authenticated documents and official Spanish translations. Applicants should confirm current forms, appointment availability and payment instructions with INM or the relevant Honduran consulate before paying or travelling.

Overview

INM publishes a checklist for extranjeros empresarios. The file asks for an application to the INM Executive Director, legal-representation evidence, DPI certificate, resident foreigner card copy, authenticated operating permit, company financial statements authorised by a registered accountant and the annual Special Permanence Permit fee. A note says free-zone cases are not asked for the operating permit and SAR certificate but must present a resolution proving ZOLI status. This is a conservative business-owner route: it evidences ongoing authorised business activity rather than a simple passive investment.

ℹ️ Who can apply?

You do not need a job offer or employer to apply for the Special Permanence Permit for Business Owners. This route can lead to permanent residence. Open to qualifying applicants from all countries.
